You inspired us to watch this again tonight. Beautiful movie and book.

There's a scene in the movie where the grandfather encounters racism directly and he just let's an ice cream cone melt in his hand to keep his grand son safe.


There's a thread by reddread in GD about five black American men you respect.

All five of mine knew how to do that. To swallow hard sometimes to keep their children safe - but hit hard when we weren't looking.

I watched Raisin in the Sun the other night, about a week after watching A Long Walk Home I wish I could have found the original but I watched the remake. Still was a great movie but the original was better.

I did a little reading on the author, which I had done before but had forgotten. What a brave man and family.
