The one thing that disturbs me more than anything else

is to see how many prominent conservatives celebrated the decision like it was the Super Bowl or something...Yeah, they celebrated Zimmerman too, but they weren't as all-out flagrant with it like this time...The hatred of PBO is reaching pathological levels...

Right or wrong has no meaning for the GOP; they see any political defeat of Black Americans as a defeat for President Obama, and vice-versa...It's all a game...

1. I think they were just as flagrant with celebrating Zimmerman

a gun shop sold targets that were a silhouette of Trayvon. When Zimmerman was unjustly acquitted they got worse. To this day they refuse to see that a 17 year old might be terrified of some strange man following him and confronting him.

They don't view the 17 year old black kid as fully human so said 17 year old can't be afraid like other 17 year olds or maybe doesn't have the right to fear.

It's all about winning and if they can win the current political drama. And everything IS politicized. From healthcare to education to gun violence to senseless murder of young unarmed black teens. The more rhe MSM can get these dramas into the political narrative the more the GOP can win. Republicans of today will never ask what's good for America or our citizens. Republicans of today are goaded into rooting to win each politicized confrontation and too brainwashed to know they are rooting against themselves. DU is the only place I can turn for support and sanity.

any part of this like a victory. A young man is dead.

And the complete disconnect between black and white is very disturbing. Why can't people see white privilege and their own racism? A white kid stopped under the same circumstances might end up in jail, but not dead.

I live in a rural red area. Most of my white neighbors see this as a victory for police. How can that be? People will hate and distrust cops more than ever after this.

I think Darren Wilson should be held accountable. But his life as he knew it is over, too.

Why was Wilson alone in his squad car? All police officers should have a partner. They should help each other and hold each other accountable. If cops patrol in pairs, they can patrol the same neighborhoods and get to know the people. They would be helping neighborhoods more this way, and become part of the neighborhood themselves. Why are there so few black cops out there in Ferguson? And in this day and age, why were there no cameras of any type? Will anything really change? I worry that it will not.

5. I feel the same way about the people defending the shooters in this case, Trayvon's case, etc.

Too many people are almost gleeful that a young man was shot to death. Even if it were necessary to shoot and kill someone, human decency would call for a recognition of the tragedy.

And yes, I believe that the pathological, as you rightly say, hatred of our president had caused a lot of folks to lose a large degree of decency (or to show that hateful, violent, bigoted side of themselves more freely since RW media presents it as mainstream and acceptable.)

11. I cut off people who took that route with Trayvon. It's a lot more lonely, but I can't stand it.

I'd talked to some of these people for years and never imagined they'd go that way.

The advantage to that, is I don't have to hear them spew about Brown now. It's a relief. What I hear online is bad enough for my BP.

Even at DU it's very disturbing at times. It's not because I don't want to have a discussion on this - some things are just so glaringly obvious.

Have a good day Blanche, and all.

tlo the White House, as if he's a hero or something, FFS!

With Trayvon, it was the media a few pols fouling the water. Now they have the temerity to ask the President of the United States to celebrate a man, who is, in the most charitable thing I can say, is a lousy LEO who broke the law even without the killing. The guy and Ferguson PD are filthy.

OMG, I dread seeing another GOP in the White House, they will give these killers jobs, probably.

Sorry, I gotta quit, I'm sick.
