What Fiction are you reading this week, September 8, 2019?

Just about to finish Naked by Sedaris and have Margaret Atwood’s The Heart Goes Last on my bedside table to read next.

Listening to Wait for Signs by Craig Johnson. I thought I had read all the Walt Longmire mysteries so was quite pleased when I saw this available through Overdrive. Turns out it’s short stories featuring episodes in Walt's life that don't appear in the novels, all taking place around Christmas. It’s really a fun listen. I was totally at the story where Walt is mistaken for “someone else.”
Plus, there’s a wonderful Introduction by Lou Diamond Phillips. I am going to have to buy this book to read every Christmas because I think it is just that enjoyable.

What’s enjoyable for you this week?

Typical Flowers. Interesting story. Not what I thought it would be. I thought it would be about a cult but it is an interesting investigation.

I like Sandford's books. 'Virgil Flowers investigates a murder--and a miracle--in this wickedly entertaining new thriller.'

It's about a precocious 13 year old who meets a homeless girl in Paris. It's our book club "set text" for this month - so I have less than 24 hours to finish it.
It's written in the present tense - which seems to be a thing these days - which irritates me. So far neither the plot nor the characters hold any interest for me.

the joys of a book club. I prefer our structure here: none. Good for you, though. I believe there are real benefits to an actual book club, which might include a bit of wine. Thanks for taking the time to comment here.

I finished her book Once Upon a River and it was the best read of the summer so I am trying another one.

So far I really like this one too. The story of a young woman raised in a book store who is summoned to write a biography of a dying author.Lots of stories within the story of family secrets revealed.

Gothic fiction...not my usual choice, but I'm hooked on these two books.
