Comic Books
Related: About this forumWho Writes the Watchmen?
Chip Zdarsky's side-splitting telling of the time he was asked to write a Watchmen sequel (not sure if he ever actually was asked to do so, but wow).
Do not read at work, because you will probably pee your pants laughing at one specific point.
here's the first sentence:
"There are only a few sacred no-no rules in the comics industry:Uncle Ben can never return to life, Wonder Woman must never sell well, Archie's freckled dingle must never be seen to enter Betty's marvelous choo-choo, and nobody should ever write a Watchmen follow-up."

(6,238 posts)He pretty much called DC lazy and uncreative. While I understand where he is coming from, I don't think his criticism is completely fair. The comic book industry, and really every major entertainment industry, eventually does sequels/prequels/reboots to popular properties.

(15 posts)Alan Moore hasn't done anything relevant in comics since the 80s so he should just shut his damn mouth.

(25,586 posts)I'm not a fan of the man either (honestly, Moore is only as large as he is in order to contain his considerably massive ego) but the above books are generally looked upon as being important and having some literary significance within the realm of comics.
