dreaming they are souls
swollen ticks with gray bellies
unblinking eyes
full to bursting and hungry
heads burrowed into a withering body
revolution evolution they have taken the brain!
all the blood flows to them now
kids so crazy from the rich taste
they whirl in circles of ecstasy
so hard they fall off sometimes!
skittering and pulsing
in perfect red cream
never enough
the elders complain
the body grows weak
the cells take too much
the brain is told to shunt
divert and starve the body
until the kids can float in the cream
so much so much never enough
full to bursting and hungry
