Giants place Aubrey Huff on DL due to anxiety

4-25-12

CINCINNATI -- The Giants placed Aubrey Huff on the 15-day disabled list after the veteran had an episode of anxiety. Huff left the team Monday morning and has been getting treatment.

Manager Bruce Bochy said he expected Huff to rejoin the team Friday in San Francisco. To avoid playing shorthanded for further games, the club purchased the contract of Triple-A infielder Joaquin Arias and placed Huff on the DL.

Bochy spoke with Huff on Wednesday afternoon after days of exchanging text messages. Asked if Huff's anxiety was related to personal or baseball problems, Bochy said: "I don't know if he even knows. It could be both."

"We are always going to do all we can to help the player," Bochy said. "That's the case with Aubrey."

As first reported by CSN Bay Area and confirmed via court records, Huff's wife Barbara filed for divorce on Jan. 31. Between this and his struggles hitting and fielding, I totally get it.

I'm guilty for riding Huff too. It's his last year with the Giants. Maybe in baseball. He's getting paid $11 million. He's trying like hell to go out on a high note.

the Penn State Pedophile.

The next best was fired after he got busted for stealing oxycontin from an 85 year old woman's home. ETA: The oxycontin guy is now backing up the Penn State Pedophile's namesake.

Besides, the only times there are fans in the stands here is when they play the skanks and roiders.

Take it from me, what he's going through is no fun at all.

Hopefully, he'll at least be ready to play ball in two weeks, but this isn't something he's going to get over soon.

Look, if there's something REALLY wrong with Aubrey..fine, I hope he gets better. This thing though coincides almost exactly with that terrible game he had last weekend....lets just say I'm skeptical about the reasons for this "anxiety"..Next he'll be claiming he needs to go to rehab for his well documented smoking and drinking. Heck, for all as we know, maybe that's his problem..

If that's so, it leads credence to the possibility of him having an anxiety disorder.

and as a Giants fan, I don't care what the players do for relaxation, but if I had to choose.. I'd much rather have them smoking pot than drinking..

Never any easier when you are in the limelight. His money will get him some good therapy, but it can't keep his inner demons at bay. Best of luck to him!
