I'm going to make my picks, but with two big caveats:
MEN -- Novak Djokovic, but it all depends on his state of mind. He really is the best player on hard courts with his ridiculous defensive skills, but something tells me he's just not mentally right at the present. If not, Mr. Federer collects GS no. 18.
WOMEN -- Serena Williams, but only if that mental/physical fatigue that was obvious in Cincy fades quickly. In the end, Serena is the only person who can defeat Serena. If she's still tired (she IS 31 now), she'll go out surprisingly early and Victoria Azarenka shrieks her way to her second GS title of the year.

(56,177 posts)Djoker doesn't seem to have it mentally right now...he's the Djoker of old...not focused.
As for the women, it's wide open, IMHO.
Draw is starting right now!

(77,067 posts)I agree IF Serena really is fatigued. But the last couple of months have shown me how much better she is than anybody else, even at this stage, when she's dialed in.

(56,177 posts)Djoker lucked out...I still think Roger can beat both of them, but I wonder what would have happened between Djoker and Murray.

(77,067 posts)...... but I'm not convinced. He just keeps giving little signs that he's not ready. But he should be fresh.
