Google is your friend, El.

I almost moved to North Dallas in the mid-80's. Had an offer from a company named E-Systems. It was a choice between a defense contractor (E-Systems) and a drug-infused startup tech company designing trading systems for Wall Street.

During that time, the Cubs never won the World Series.

The last time the Cubs won the Series was in 1908.

Since then, we have had two world wars, the Great Depression, the Cold War, the Korean War, the space program topped by landings on the Moon, the civil rights movement, the Vietnam War, the Bush Wars, the Wall Street meltdown of 2008 and the election of a black president.

But not the world champion Chicago Cubs.

My grandparents were born in 1895, 1900, 1902, and 1904. All of my grandparent's siblings were born between 1891 and 1910. There were between 10-12 in two of the families.

children and all.

My grandparents saw two baseball championships in Cleveland; 1920 and 1948. They even saw them play as the "Naps" -- when the team was named after Nap Lajoie.

One set was from Tennessee and at that time baseball was pretty much just a Northern Experience, so I don't think they were fans. My other set were very religious and I don't think they were any kind of sports fan. My Dad was an Indians fan when he was younger, but a Pirates fan since his teens.

My grandparents were born in 1883, 1887, 1890 and 1892.

I'm the baby of the family. My Dad was 40 when I was born and Mom was 37. Dad's kid brother had three daughters who are all older than I.

Grandparents: 1873-1962, 1877-1957, 1889-1964, 1892-1972.

Mother was a Pirates fan. She baby-sat little 'Chuckie' Tanner in New Castle. Dad loved baseball but there were no major league teams near him until the A's moved to Kansas City. He was actually a Yankees fan, mostly because he was their pilot many times on charter flights during the early 60s. He managed my 3 & 2 League (Little League) team in the late 50s. He also loved the Cubs.
