Nike 'winning takes care of everything' Tiger Woods ad draws critics

NEW YORK -- Maybe winning doesn't take care of everything.

Nike is causing a social media storm with its latest online ad showing a picture of Tiger Woods overlaid with a quote from him, "Winning takes care of everything."

The ad, posted on Facebook and Twitter, is supposed to allude to the fact the golfer recovered from career stumbles to regain his world No. 1 ranking on Monday, which he lost in October 2010. But some say it's inappropriate in light of Woods' past marital woes. It's the latest controversy for athletic giant Nike, which recently has had to cut ties with biker Lance Armstrong and runner Oscar Pistorius due to separate scandals.

though it seems to be the mantra of business these days that "winning" really means "exceeding quarterly returns" or "paying higher than expected dividends." Do that and all is forgiven.

Nike doesn't give a shit as long as Woods makes them money.

I mean, what really had to be "taken care of"? He didn't commit a crime, he wasn't using PEDs, he didn't rape any of those women. I'm failing to see what the controversy is.

especially when you have kids.

Besides that, his real name is Eldrick Tont Woods.

I don't think it's anyone's business and that it really doesn't matter at all.

Personally, Woods can go fuck himself for all I care about him and his stupid game. I just think it's ludicrous to be mad at a super rich and famous guy for doing what rich and famous guys do.

No one hates Ozzy for fucking everything that moved while he was married with kids. It's just stupid to hold a golfer to higher standard than any other entertainer.

I do enjoy watching him play when he's 'on'. I just thought the ad was unintentionally hilarious which is why I posted.

My comments are directed at those who want this jackass to suffer for something that is meaningless to them and doesn't affect them at all.

Unless he was fucking your wife, why would you care?

then we better stop watching sports. Besides, no one said a peep when Bruce Springsteen cheated.

this wasn't a one-time or even a two-time fling. And he employed others to help him.

just because these guys did the same thing doesn't give Woods a free pass.

Maybe someone should write a book -- "Winning Takes Care Of Everything—Infidelities of the Worlds Greatest Athletes And Why We Should Still Idolize Them."

So he had extramarital sex leading to the breakup of his marriage. Big deal....he and millions of other Americans. If that's Tiger's worse "crime"..he's doing pretty good.
