Can anyone help me find a site where I can watch this series streaming live? I will go insane if I can't watch the Hawks get to the Cup again!!! I can't go thru places like NBC sports because you still have to go thru your cable/satellite provider - which I don't have. I refuse to watch it free if I have to listen to it in Russian. I don't mind paying a bit as long as I don't get blacked out. Of course, I would prefer a free site with good video quality.
Please, please help me

(32,061 posts)There will be at least a half dozen links tomorrow to the game, so don't be alarmed that you don't see any today. They tend to add more as the game approaches. For Wednesday's game, there were something like 10 from which to choose. The ones toward the top tend to be NBCSN links, while the lower ones tend to be CBC broadcasts. Several come from Europe, so the commercials might be in Swedish or some other language, but the games will be in English. Sometimes one or two of the links suck, but I have always been able to find a decent stream. I've watched dozens of games here. I find that the one that has the Al Jazeera(?) logo tends to be the best one. Go figure.

(32,061 posts)I would go insane, too, if I couldn't watch. Thank goodness for this kind of thing. I am trapped in a hockey desert, and it was hard to keep up with my boys for years. That wasn't bad during the Dark Ages, but it would be horrible now.

(1,200 posts)Black out central! Just got into hockey again after many years. Was a total maniac back the Makita, Hull days. Still miss them!

(32,061 posts)I've been a fan since the 1960s, too. Stosh is my all-time fave.
I'm stuck in South Carolina. Hockey? What's that? Actually, nearby Augusta, GA has had a couple of minor league teams. John Marks coached the Lynx before they folded. The River Hawks lasted 1 year, before they left town last month.

(1,200 posts)Also just found out how to watch in VLC player. Have to do that for next game. Supposed to be like HD. And I can adjust the screen size so I don't feel like I'm sitting in the front row at the movies. Never could see the damn screen that close.
John Marks! Geez, never thought I'd think of that name again! I must confess, though. My sister and I got Keith Magnuson's autograph about a hundred years ago. We were SO cool! Can we please go back to that time?

(32,061 posts)Will have to look into that. Tonight had the most links I have ever seen on that page.
My brother has Maggie's autograph, as well. He says Keith was a really nice guy. I only have his bobblehead, which I won in a drawing. I have Stan Mikita, John Marks, Dick Redmond, and Cliff Korroll. I had Bobby Hull's, too, but I can't seem to find it. I would love to go back to that time, too, in many ways. However, I do love the now--at least as far as the Hawks go.

(1,200 posts)I had a mad crush on Magnuson. Was just devasted when he died.
Here's a link for setting up VLC

And the links for games to enter in VLC

Don't ask me how I actually figured this out. Pure chance I think....

Problem is there are several popups when you play a game but it is the best out there as far as I can tell unless CBS is streaming the Super Bowl or March Madness.

(1,200 posts)Have a problem getting rid of Firefox's Flashblock. I've whitelisted the site. Turned Flashblock off completely and still get the "F" to click - which normally brings up whatever I am trying to watch. Have had Adblock on and off to no avail. Just can't figure out what the deal is with Flashblock.
