49ers fans raise money for S.F.-bragging billboard in Seattle

San Francisco 49ers fans have raised enough money to put up a billboard in Seattle. It would brag about the 49ers and mock the Seahawks’ lack of a Super Bowl trophy.

The $7,000 needed to pay for the billboard has already been committed, according to a website set up for the project. In fact, more than $8,000 has been raised — the surplus will be donated to Seattle Children’s, according toESPN.

A location hasn’t been picked, but the website said the billboard is supposed to stay up in December and into January.

This is, of course, in response — perhaps retaliation — for the “Go Hawks” banner that Seattle fans had flown over Candlestick Park during the Seahawks-49ers game two weeks ago....

that would say much more than any billboard. It's been my experience they do hate the 49ers up here though... but SF is the glamor organization and has the history, why play into the wannabes hands?

I don't get this whole rivalry thing thing anyway..Seattle has been in the NFC only about 10 years and both the 49ers and Seahawks have been good at the same time for less than half of that. When I think of true 49er rivals my thoughts turn to teams like the Cowboys or Giants before the Seahawks.

All that being said, it's just a few fans..

In case you somehow did not hear about this, San Francisco 49ers fans successfully raised over $11,000 to create a billboard meant to mock Seattle Seahawks fans. Whether you agree with it or not, the billboard is up and sits near the I-5, about 20 minutes south of Seattle. The goal was $7,000 and the remaining money will be contributed to Seattle's Children's Hospital. The billboard ad will remain up for five weeks, which will leave it up past the NFC Championship game.

"Its not hidden at all. Anyone driving North on I-5 will NOT miss it. Mission accomplished, big time" said 49ers fan Joshua Putnam.
