Chiefs break NFL record for consecutive playoff defeats

The Chiefs broke the NFL record for consecutive postseason losses at eight Saturday with their 45-44 loss at Indianapolis on Saturday in the opening round of the AFC playoffs.

Entering Saturday, the Detroit Lions and Chiefs held active streaks of seven consecutive losses. Detroit missed this year’s playoffs, so they could tie the Chiefs’ record next season.

The Chiefs’ last playoff win was 28-20 against the Oilers in Houston following the 1993 season.

The Colts have had the most players on Injured Reserve of any team this year -- and key players have been hobbled but still playing all year. I don't know what the Colts are doing wrong, but they have been among the most injured teams quite a lot in the past few years.

KC took HUGE injuries in this game and that eventually did them in. I guess the advantage of having people injured all the time is that you learn how to cobble something together. But it was a really strange game. As KC kept losing key players, you had to wonder if Andrew Luck had enough time left to make the comeback. It was like a boxing match with one fighter scoring points early and then clinging to the ropes trying to avoid the KO punch. Without those injuries, obviously KC would have won big.

The Colts beat Denver the first time, but that was with exceptional play from their two corners, Davis and Toler. Both of those guys are barely able to go now -- and the Colts couldn't leave Toler in this game because KC was shredding him. So I can't see the Colts beating Denver a second time if that is the game they get next week. I think their odds are slightly better against New England, mainly because Gronkowsky is gone and he was practically unstoppable.

I feel bad for Andy Reid. He got a lot out of his roster this year. But one thing the announcers ignored is that the year after you have a horrible season, you have the easiest schedule in the league. That's what the Colts had last year. It makes a huge difference. I'm glad to see KC doing well. I know the fans in KC really love that team, and it was a shame for them to be off the mark for years. I think they will be fine next year.

The other 14 are the regular division games and the two other divisions that are played on a rotational basis.

Based on the link below, actually the New England Patriots had the easiest schedule in 2012 based on the 2011 results. That's primarily because their division is so bad so they had an automatic 6 games against teams with poor records the year before.

Likewise, this year it was the Broncos because their division was so bad last year. And it didn't hurt any they were scheduled to play the NFC East this year, which last year was won by a 9-7 team.

That was the Eagles (10-6) in week 3. They beat Dallas (8-8) in week 2.

But they would have beaten the Colts if Charles were available to burn clock in the 2nd half.

I must say I am at least a little impressed with the discipline of the NFL keeping concussion suspects out of the games.

As a Charger fan I'm glad he did and I am also glad they are out of the payoffs because of how good they are.

...under "futility".

They've stunk up the game for the last forty years, and will probably do so for the next forty, unless the league gets tired of them and boots them out.

Best amateur team in professional football--I'll give 'em that......
