http://nfl.si.com/2014/01/09/jay-gruden-head-coach-washington-redskins/?eref=sihpThe Redskins had already interviewed five other candidates Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell, Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and Dallas Cowboys special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia. Gruden had also talked with the Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions about their head coaching vacancies.
Gruden had been the Bengals offensive coordinator, and that tenure coincided with the first three-year playoff run in franchise history. In 2013, third-year quarterback Andy Dalton set the franchise record for passing touchdowns in a season with 33, and Cincinnatis offense ranked 12th in passing in Football Outsiders opponent-adjusted metrics.
Hmm. Jay Gruden does have two Arena Football league titles to his name!!

(78,249 posts)Snyder registered the name "Washington Warriors" allegedly as a name for an ArenaBall team he was planning to bring to DC -- right around the time it looked like the courts might strip him of the right to use the racist trademark.

(42,998 posts)They had to hire. I watch my share of Bengals football and I have to say: no one does less with their offensive talent. I hear how he's an innovator? Really? Is that why your offense got stifled by mediocre Pittsburgh and Baltimore teams? I expect more of the same from the skins

(64,931 posts)It was decent. I was more concerned they would pick Mike Zimmer. He did a good job in Dallas, and even with all the distractions in Cincy, he did a good job.
Well, at least with Gruden there, the Cowboys should at least get two wins every year!!

Bruce Allen isn't doing himself any favors with this, since Gruden was HIS choice basically....
