Browns receiver Davone Bess reportedly arrested in a Florida airport for assaulting an officer
Police at the Fort Lauderdale International Airport took him into custody for assaulting an officer/firefighter around 6:20 a.m. He was charged with assaulting an officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to a Broward County Sheriff's department report. Bess appeared to be "under the influence of an unknown narcotic," according to the report, and was "looking through" the officer as he spoke to him.
Bess posted $100 bond and was released from jail late Friday morning, an information officer for the sheriff's department confirmed. Television crews peppered him with questions upon his release. A follower of the Rastafarian Movement, a smiling Bess uttered several Rasta phrases and said he "wanted help kids all over the world."

But Bess' troubles escalated Friday when an officer working a TSA detail approached him in the airport concourse after several people pointed out his bizarre behavior. He was "acting irrationally, dancing, singing with his pants repeatedly falling down," according to a report written by Thomas O'Brien.
The officer tried speaking to Bess, who grabbed a cup of coffee not belonging to him and squeezed it, causing the drink to land on the officer. Bess took a "fighting stance" at which time the officer struck him in the leg with a baton, according to the report. Bess removed his shirt and remained in the stance, ignoring the officer's command to drop to the ground.

The arrest comes less than a month after Bess left the team. He missed the final two games of the season for personal reasons and was placed on the non-football/reserve list. A source told cleveland.com Bess has been dealing with serious family issues.
