Warren Sapp: Michael Strahan doesn’t belong in Hall of Fame

Former defensive tackle Warren Sapp, who was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year, doesn’t think one of his peers, defensive end Michael Strahan, deserves to be voted in this year.

Sapp said at Super Bowl Media Day that Strahan, who is one of 15 finalists for the Hall, wasn’t good enough to be enshrined, according to Neil Best of Newsday.

The two traded barbs when Sapp was elected last season.

Strahan, 42, played 15 seasons for the Giants, was a four-time first-team All-Pro and had 141.5 career sacks, including an NFL record 22.5 in 2001.

Brett gave it to him, so it doesn't count in the record books I keep in my head.

TMZ: ...Cops say two women told police they were at the hotel "as escorts" and went to Sapp's room, where an argument broke out over money. The women claim the argument turned physical and spilled out into the hallway. Cops say the women had injuries consistent with a struggle.

Officials say when cops questioned Sapp,"he was questioned and admitted involvement in the act of prostitution, but denied assaulting the females."

Both women involved in the incident received citations...for prostitution...(and) violation of the City’s escort permit requirements. Both women were released.

Sapp has been SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY from the NFL Network without pay pending the outcome of the investigation...says (an) NFL Network spokesman....The NFL Network has removed Sapp's bio from the official "On-Air Talent" section of the website...

In addition to his having filed for bankruptcy, I also recall an incident where he stiffed a waitress...sounds like he still has a lot to learn about when to be generous with his money!

But let's not rush to judgement: Apparently, you can legally be an escort in Phoenix AZ if you work for a licensed bureau, get a photo ID, and "for a fee, (are) held out to the public as available for hire to accompany others to social affairs and places of amusement, both in public or private situations." However, "all kinds of sexual activity are strictly prohibited from occurring as a result of the escort/client business relationship." Did Sapp mistake the escorts for prostitutes? No wonder a violent confrontation ensued!
