Aqib Talib agrees to deal with Denver Broncos

While the Patriots continued to negotiate with Aqib Talib all the way up until Tuesday, it never really felt like the two sides were going to come together.

That feeling was confirmed late Tuesday evening after the 28-year old cornerback agreed to a 6-year, $57 million deal with the Denver Broncos with $26 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That averages out to $9.5 million per year.

...

Talib is coming off the best season of his career, proving to be a top-tier cornerback who can shut down some the league's best receivers. He tallied 41 tackles and four interceptions in 2013. But he was hobbled by a number of injuries, including his hip which had limited his availability. He missed only three regular season games in 2013 but was not entirely healthy in countless others.

With Talib off the market, the Patriots can still make a play in the cornerback market. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Antonio Cromartie, and Walter Thurmond are still available. The Patriots could also make a deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Darrelle Revis, who has been openly touted on the market for days.

meh. That's a lot of money for a guy who can't stay on the field. And a lot of money NE now has to spend elsewhere.
