A's Pitcher Sonny Gray Records Most Bizarre Out Of The Season (So Far)

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/04/07/sonny-gray-1st-base-bag_n_5105443.html

Well here's something that doesn't happen everyday.

Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager ripped a line drive off Oakland A's pitcher Sonny Gray on Sunday, but the 1st base bag got in the way. The ball deflected off the base and then gently floated in the air back to Gray. The pitcher caught it on the run and stepped on the bag for the easy out.

by a close inside pitch. The ball hit his bat in the process, however, and went into foul territory. The umpire had no choice but to call it a strike, but he had enough class to appear embarrassed -- and Stargell had enough class not to contest it.
