http://www.inquisitr.com/1512175/st-louis-rams-rumor-team-reportedly-relocating-to-los-angeles-will-announce-after-super-bowl/The team, which had been located in Los Angeles before moving to St. Louis in 1994, is in the final year of a lease with the Convention and Visitors Commission, which runs the Edward Jones Dome. There has been rampant speculation that owner Stan Kroenke has been been seriously considering a move to Los Angeles, a city hungry for a football team.
Now a report from ESPN Radio in St. Louis indicates that the Rams have already planned a move and will announce it publicly after Super Bowl XLIX.
Many have already suggested that the St. Louis Rams could relocate to Los Angeles. In early September, St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bryan Burwell wrote that it will take a region-wide effort to keep the team from moving, a tall task given the state of politics in the region.
A reverse Raiders? (Oakland-L.A.-Oakland, L.A.-St. Louis-L.A.) Speaking of Oakland, two positive Bay Area sports stories in one night?! That would leave Oakland with only San Antonio as a much less attractive option.

(64,995 posts)The football fans there are already watching games on TV and they weren't able to support a team sufficiently for the ownership when they had just one.
The media market size is way overblown. The TV's are still on to NFL games. What difference does it make if the team is 20 miles away, or 100, or 300 or 3000?

(31,163 posts)sales of private suites and merchandise (jerseys, etc.) stay with the team. Jerry Jones, Robert Kraft, et al, make a killing from this.
A move to L.A. could provide to be more lucrative from that perspective. Then again, it could be a simple case of tax payer extortion as you suggest.

(16,113 posts)I've seen little-to-no evidence to support it. The league seems hungry for the city, though.
