http://finance.yahoo.com/news/heres-text-madison-bumgarners-dad-150743600.htmlThe main takeaway is that Kevin Bumgarner is awesome. He says things like: "I didnt know if he had enough left tonight. But I did know that boy would try to steal a steak off the devils plate."
Kevin was a nervous wreck as his son pitched five innings in one of the greatest pitching performances ever. With the Giants up, 3-2, going into the ninth inning, Kevin sent his son a text message telling him how proud he was.
He told The Times about the text: " I knew he wouldnt read that text before the game was over, but I wanted him to know this was what his daddy thought of him."...
OMG. Youre so much more than awesome. To see you work on the mound reminds me of watching you in high school. You are willing yourself to perfection and dragging the team along with you. I couldnt be more proud of your baseball accomplishments.

(31,156 posts)1. When I saw Bumgarner trot out to the mound in the 5th it felt like a heavy weight was lifted ...
even if he was gassed and blew it I told myself it would be okay. We wouldn't have made it that far without him. I want to call him "Ice Water" from now on because he's so cool in the playoffs.
Awesome text. That's one proud Papa.

(78,249 posts)2. Two wins and a save in the Series.
Has that ever been done before? Even a win and a save?

3-0 vs St Louis Cardinals.

Lew Burdette (Milwaukee Braves) and Bob Gibson (Cardinals) among them. I was wondering about the combination of wins and a save.
