Kyle Williams lost it for them...I think he is way more responsible for the niners loss than Cundiff was for the Ravens...

(72,790 posts)You have to establish an offense. 49ers didn't do that in the second half.

(72,790 posts)Smith is decent, but can't always rely on a big play (Smith to Davis) to win a football game. Giants moved the ball much more consistently Sunday, Manning completed 32 passes, G-Men had a big advantage with time of possession, etc, and that allowed the Giants to always be a play away from scoring. 49ers' defense is indeed nasty, though.
Yes, Williams' two blunders hurt (badly) but I liked the Giants' chances more than I liked the 49ers' because of the Giants ability to move the ball.

(29,322 posts)In nearly every single one of those replays the Giants got effective pressure + receivers were tightly covered on almost every one of those incomplete passes. Third down killed the '9ers but they had a very good yards per play average for the game(far better than the Giants who had 24 more yards on 33 more plays). The overthrow to a deep Kyle Williams is the only major thing I felt Smith did bad for the game.
Off topic though the one thing I loved about Harbaugh was he was never afraid to go for it on 4th and short and not only going for it, but the plays he called(medium range passes rather than trying to pound it for a yard) but there were a couple of times he didn't around the 40-yard line, one when the opted for the delay of game and a running in the kicker penalty which he declined that would've made it a 4th & 1.

(72,790 posts)and it just so happened to come down to that play, which the Giants took advantage of, but the 49ers did not play well enough, imo, offensively to win that game.
Giants dominated in almost every offensive category, took advantage of their breaks and are going to the Super Bowl because of it.
Credit the 49ers defense for only allowing 20 points, but the Giants were the better team overall on Sunday.

(27,711 posts)Harbaugh didn't do a good job play calling in the 4th either. Too much pass, run, pass instead of run, run, pass. The weather did not favor the passing game.
