A bold Cowboys trade for RGIII would save their season, his career

By David Steele

The Cowboys don’t have to look far for the quarterback who can save their season. All they have to do is grab the quarterback one of their division rivals doesn’t want, someone whose career has suffered a sharp decline since leading his team to an improbable division title not long ago.

Yes, Washington’s Robert Griffin III.

Griffin, of course, isn’t out there on the street like Tim Tebow. Jerry Jones and Jason Garrett will have to trade for him, and take on a $16 million option for 2016 that they’d have to pay if Griffin gets injured this year. Not exactly a safe move for a player with a noted injury history.

But for all of that — and the possible price of a mid-round draft pick, which Washington likely would hold out for — the Cowboys could not only survive Tony Romo’s broken collarbone and get back on the playoff track; they could revive the career of a fallen star once poised to take over the NFL....

3. You would be lucky to get a bag of footballs for him.

There's no evidence he is willing to even try to make the changes needed to be an NFL quarterback.

I'm not so sure. RGIII still has a lot to learn, though he could obviously do a better job than tebow.

7. Who says they'd be saving it? There's a reason they cut him.

Wouldn't you want to burden your enemies with your former problem?

If you're looking at RGIII to be the solution to your problems, you're already fucked. If they want to trade for a former "hometown" star quarterback currently playing for Washington, they'd do better to go after Colt McCoy, at least he'd be cheaper.

10. You have a better chance of Aikman coming back than of getting Dalton this year,

But if they want to pursue a hometown QB, the best out there is Chase Daniel. Chiefs are deep at QB, so the Cowboys could probably get him for a low round draft choice.
