"If you don’t want to take too many right wingers, does that mean you won’t be taking Tim Thomas?"

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara gave his strategy prior to last night’s NHL Fantasy Draft, saying you don’t want to load up on too many players of the same position.

“You don’t want to have, say, too many right wingers,” said Chara.

That, of course, gave the wiseguys in the press a wide opening.

“So, Zdeno, if you don’t want to take too many right wingers,” asked Dave Shoalts of the Toronto Globe and Mail, “does that mean you won’t be taking Tim Thomas [stats]?”

Some thought that, given the controversy surrounding Thomas since he opted out of the Bruins’ White House visit on Monday and the loud suggestions that the goalie wasn’t the best teammate, Chara would pick his day-job goalie first. He didn’t, going with Detroit Red Wings star Pavel Datsyuk.
