Game 1 of World Series delayed after Fox Sports telecast lost power
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Game 1 of the World Series was delayed for more than five minutes after Fox Sports' telecasts of the game was bumped off the air.
The outage occurred at 9:19 ET, shortly after Kansas City Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales struck out looking against New York Mets starter Matt Harvey.
After TV transmission was lost, Major League Baseball Chief Baseball Officer Joe Torre consulted with the umpiring crew and the game was halted.
It resumed at 9:26 ET after the Fox telecast came back on.
But because of the technical difficulties, Matt Vasgersian took over for Joe Buck as play-by-play announcer until Buck returned in the bottom of the fifth inning, but not before a second brief outage.
Both managers -- Mets' Terry Collins and Royals' Ned Yost -- agreed to continue the game without instant replay.
