http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article/Las-Vegas-Sands-wants-stadium-for-UNLV-possibly-6791507.phpSands spokesman Ron Reese said the casino company envisions a public-private partnership to build a $1 billion, 65,000-seat stadium that could be shared by a professional team and UNLV. The Sands would likely partner with other investors and might seek to draw on public revenue sources, such as hotel room tax revenue earmarked for promoting tourism.
The Raiders have no lease for a stadium for next season after NFL owners earlier this month shot down their plans to move to the Los Angeles area. The team is negotiating a short-term extension with officials in Oakland and Alameda County but is also looking for a permanent new home to replace the outdated Coliseum.
Sands owner Sheldon Adelson has scheduled a Friday meeting with Raiders owner Mark Davis. Reese didn't elaborate on the nature of their discussions and the Raiders declined comment.
Earth to Davis: a) There is no way on Earth the league allows a team in Vegas as long as there are legal sports books there. b) Adelson is a big-buck$$$ repuke donor. Shame on you for dealing with him.

(10,893 posts)on us East Bay fans who have supported your (garbage) product for years!
I don't expect them to be able to move anywhere, but as I hear about this and about how SD and STL are losing their teams, I can't help but wonder if loyalty is still meaningful nowadays. To me, the Raiders haven't been nearly as committed to staying here and as faithful as we've been to them. East Bay fans deserve better than an owner who doesn't want to stay put and who makes unreasonable demands of local officials. He basically wants to look for a sucker who will pay for his billion dollar playpen.
