For me, that's a no-brainer. I would love to be a Professional Tennnis player. One, you travel the world instead of playing in only one country. Two, you're always playing in ideal weather conditions. Three, you're always around super hot women, and most of them are also wealthy. Four, you can make a great living on and off the court. Five, you don't have to play on a team and deal with someone else's bullshit. You win on your own, and you lose on your own.

Also, you don't have to worry about traumatic brain injuries.

(18,161 posts)I enjoy them both.
I grew up before Title IX so I never was involved much in team sports. But I've been skiing since high school and I always remember playing tennis.
Both sports involve travel, which I love. And, I agree, you win and lose on your own.

(65,000 posts)Not only longevity at the highest level, but a separate tour for over 50 that still pays potentially millions per year. Not as lucrative as the big tour, but still pretty darned good.

(53,475 posts)... golf pros can set their own schedules, pick only their favorite locales, practice as much or little as they want, where they want, and rely solely on themselves for success.
Seems like a no-brainer IF you like the game.
On the other hand, I love to play basketball (or did when I was younger) but would never be happy playing in the NBA, which passes itself off as basketball. Grinding travel, bad coaches, worse teammates.
Nah, I'll take golf.

(65,000 posts)Except to have had that career i would have needed 6 more inches of height.
I'm only 5'9". Decent player. Quick and could jump out of the gym. But, at my height, that didn't mean that much. I'd have to have the skills of a Spud Webb, which i clearly didn't. Didn't handle the ball like him, couldn't shoot like him. But, at 6'3" i would have gotten scholarship offers from more than from Montana and small school in Alabama.
But, that would have been fun.

(118,622 posts)I've always loved hockey. I just wasn't good enough at it to make junior level. Scoring the Cup winner in overtime of game 7 would be the ultimate.

(59,305 posts)I would choose baseball, and I would play first base. I would enjoy playing football, but the chance of injury is way to high...if I was impervious to injury though, I would choose football, free safety.

Yes, I just bought that Ken Burns Baseball documentary - Best $40.00 I ever spent.
Also to see what Jackie Robinson went thru...sounds like he endured hellish conditions...
To see the Brooklynn Dodgers play in Ebbets Field...
I sure wish we could go back...

(78,249 posts)for that would imply that I was a wealthy resident of Mexico City. The sport, sort of a mashup of squash and jai alai, is played only on private courts in said wealthy Mexicans' (think Carlos Slim) homes.
