Big 12 will not add any new members, sticking with 10 schools

GRAPEVINE -- The Big 12 will remain a 10-team conference, according to multiple reports.

A source familiar with the decision confirmed that the conference presidents did not add any new members during its nearly six-hour meeting Monday at the Grand Hyatt at DFW International Airport.

Presidents began leaving about 1:45 p.m. The relatively early departure was a viewed as a bad sign for expansion.

Now the Big 12 may be in a position to negotiate a deal with Fox and ESPN for not expanding.

I wish all conferences were 10 teams and the championships were replaced by another round of playoffs (have eight "power" conferences who's winners play for the title.

And I miss the Southwest Conference! There were never more than nine members.
