Watch his hands. Fans run onto the field all the time, he likely just got too close to him which set him off.

Looked like a firm shove to me. Sure, Peppers needs not to mix it up with fans. But I have zero sympathy for the fan - if you choose to rush the field you're accepting the risk of a chaotic situation, and doubly so if you're getting between the visitors' bench and the locker room.

Of course, my point of reference for all this is hockey...
