DU fantasy baseball

I'm cross-posting this for higher visibility. There's a thread just like this one in the baseball sub-forum.

There doesn't appear to be a league, at least from my Google search of this forum. Why the hell not? We had a successful fantasy football season.

I'm determined to round up enough participants to form a 12 to 14 team DU fantasy baseball league. I'll even organize the darn thing (for the first time, so be warned!). Probably through Yahoo because I'm familiar with that site from having played before.

Please indicate below if you're interested. If the response is poor, I'm going to be sending lots of DU private messages to the regulars in the baseball and sports threads.

I encourage everyone to subscribe to this thread to catch any updates. Here's an important date:

Our draft will be held on Sunday, March 26 at 9 p.m. EDT. It will probably take about an hour. If you're not available then auto-draft will pick players on your behalf, based on player rankings. You can set your own draft priorities to guide the auto-draft (and also exclude any players you don't want on your team).

Opening day is April 2.

It's a head-to-head league.

One big question for everyone is do you prefer to have daily settings or weekly settings? Daily settings is much time intensive, but is more of a true managerial experience. Weekly settings mean you choose your roster for the upcoming week on a set day and then you're stuck with those players regardless of injuries that might occur afterwards. Let me know which you prefer.

14. The beauty of the cyber league

is that you can sit there in front of your computer and be the manager, chewing snuff, ranting and raving and kicking dirt is entirely optional!

If you know of any others who might be interested in playing, direct them this way. I've sent out some PMs to longtime DU members who post in the baseball and sports forums but have had few positive responses so far.

We have 9 people who have said they're going to participate. Twelve teams would be ideal.

TBH I've only had luck with head to head tourneys... haha The point-based ones have always been confusing to me.

26. Regretfully I have to back out of participating in this

Just picked up a new function at the job.

Will be traveling in and out of country as well as doing pretty extensive field work in rather remote areas.

Sorry, but I wouldn't be able to keep up as I will be on the road several times throughout the season for 3-6 weeks at a time

To expand my portfolio. The more I work, the more secure I am in this position.

And i feel good about the project going forward.

My wife ... Well not so happy about me returning to field work. But I'm a mediocre staff flunky, and a kick ass tactical communications analyst.
