They moved back for the same reason they left -- they wanted a new stadium with revenue generating amnities.

I think the stadium in SF with fans sitting right in the sun while the more expensive tickets are shaded. I'm only mentioning this because the Rams and 49ers kick off soon.

I know Chargers fans in Corona, the suburbs south of LA were Chargers fans before LA had a team though I think the Raiders would have been a better fit.

The Rams I kind of get. They had an existing fan base in L.A., so presumably anyone who is old enough and who has enough patience to wait out their stint in St. Louis came back into the fold. And, they were the first to move to L.A., so they likely picked up younger and/or newer football fans.

But who's rooting the the Chargers? Is it just San Diego people who weren't offended by the move and/or existing Charger fans in L.A.?

We're the stands pretty full or empty? They can't win at home so it should be a miserable season and they won't win any new fans that way.

Must have given tickets away and people still couldn't bother to show up.

They hate everything about northern LA.

Ironically, they will have to travel north to Inglewood to attend Charger games.

seem to have pretty much screwed themselves out of a fan base. Their home field advantage in SD wasn't great, but at least they had some fans there who cared. Now that they moved north and infuriated most of their SD area fans, it's even worse for them. What should be home games sound like road games, and they can't even sell out the smallest capacity stadium! It was only ~25K fans, and about half were Dolphin fans according to that Deadspin article. Most people in LA clearly are apathetic towards the Chargers. Dean Spanos has been showing people what not to do in order to build and maintain a successful franchise.
