(actual headline...I didn't have to embellish it.)
Roger Federer has brushed aside world number one Rafael Nadal 6-4, 6-3 to win the Shanghai Masters and register his fourth victory of the year over his Spanish rival.
The Swiss world number two beat Nadal in the finals of the Australian Open and Miami Masters and in the last 16 at Indian Wells earlier this year, and never looked like losing to his long-time rival in Shanghai, firing 10 aces as he cruised to victory.
Federer, the only man who can still stop Nadal ending the year as number one, took an hour and 12 minutes to claim his sixth title of the year and his second Shanghai crown with a clinical performance.
"I wasn't here last year because of injuries, so it's just so, so nice to be back in Shanghai," Federer said.

(7,820 posts)Its been a fantastic year for him, regardless. Is it weird that Im kinda happy he didnt have to play Rafa at the US Open? He did not look 100%, and I was happier seeing him go out in the quarters to DelPo than lose to Rafa. He would have gotten 1 more round, but hes looked so confident against Nadal this year.

(56,177 posts)That favored Rafroid. Hopefully today's loss makes him realize he can't beat Roger when Roger is on...Roger knows how to beat him now...Rafroid just slugs it out...Roger takes it early and doesn't let him get into that rhythm.
That said, I can't bear to watch Rafroid, the grunting, the butt picking, and that neurotic routine before he serves or receives. Ugh!
