Giants' Bumgarner suffers hand fracture in last Cactus League start; out 6 to 8 weeks

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner was struck in his pitching hand by a line drive hit by Kansas City's Whit Merrifield in the third inning Friday and was diagnosed with a left hand fracture. ESPN's Buster Olney tweeted that sources have informed him that Bumgarner will miss six to eight weeks.

The Giants' pitching staff already was in a state of flux. No. 3 starter Jeff Samardzija is expected to miss up to a month with a strained right pectoral muscle that he sustained Wednesday.
