I listen to a lot of baseball on the radio, I am starting to notice on the broadcasts-usually late in run away games with the visitor ahead and I'm guessing the stands nearly empty-fans doing that Rick Flair yell "Whhooo!" and then another fan picks it up and it goes on and on randomly until the last out. Its annoying AF to me
I first noticed it in a series early in the season in Cincy. It was annoying, even the home town radio guys seemed peeved ( it is clearly heard on radio broadcasts)
Last night in Pittsburgh with the Brewers up big, it flared up (pun intended)
Is this a new thing?

(17,090 posts)It depends upon who's occupying the stands, I guess. If you get a pro wrasslin' fan -- or a group of them -- and they start their "Wooooo" calls then some other people in the stadium/arena might pick it up. It can catch fire or die out. It can last for a minute and then simmer down or it can persist on-and-off throughout a game.
I don't mind it as long as the Ric Flair disciple isn't seated in my immediate vicinity "Wooooo"ping it up!
