(7,513 posts)The athletics programs at many major universities are paid for by the revenue from college football, which are self-supporting and don't get money from the general education funds. Those programs include includes all the women's sports, which would require university funds to keep them going if football went away. The colleges would be using university funds, "wasting money" on the women's sports to use your perjorative take.
