Japan to face U.S. in World Baseball Classic final - CBS News



After a thrilling walk-off win against Mexico, Japan is set to face the United States in the World Baseball Classic final. CBS Sports HQ analyst Will Middlebrooks, a former third baseman for the Boston Red Sox, joins CBS News to preview the highly anticipated matchup of Los Angeles Angels teammates Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani.

He traveled to Japan in the thirties and put on clinics, focusing on team management. He resumed his visits after the Second World War. Japan was totally receptive, and the rest is history.

They though so much of him, they inducted him into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame.
