Gregg Williams should permanently be banned from the NFL.

Hours before members of the New Orleans Saints' coaching staff and front office were scheduled to have their appeals heard by the NFL regarding the team's bounty scandal, an incriminating audio recording surfaced of former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams seemingly exhorting his players to injure opponents during a fiery pre-game speech.

Yahoo's Michael Silver spoke with documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon, who recorded the speech at the team’s hotel the night before the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. In Pamphilon's recording, Williams can be heard instructing his players to injure several of the 49ers players, notably making explicit references to "taking out that outside ACL" of 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Pamphilon informs Silver that Williams put a bounty on 49ers quarterback Alex Smith when he made the cash sign with his fingers and said, "We hit fuckin Smith right there, I got the first one. I got the first one. Go get it. Go lay that mother fucker out."

And Drew Brees pretends he never knew about this whole bounty thing? It's not like Williams wasn't talking about this openly.

the 49ers defense outplayed the Saints defense and was the difference in the game.

I hope the NCAA recognizes the NFL suspension. And I agree with mad -- make it permanent.

Some have tried to dismiss this and said essentially "Oh, bounties have always been part of the game."

Then they need to stop. And this fucker seems to have been one of their worst promoters.

because they were clearly out to take him out of that game.

There is a lot in that speech I can agree with. But he certainly grabs hold of it and storms over the line, doesn't he.

Because it just makes my blood boil to think what our team was once again denied because of a bunch of thugs. Their plan worked - Favre made some bad decisions and altered his play because he didn't want to get slammed again.

Kudos to the 49ers for getting the job done and beating those assholes anyway.

Anyone on that team who says they had no idea this was going on is full of shit.
When I think of the NFC championship game where they took out Favre it makes me want to vomit.

while I was dilly-dallying on my reply.

They clearly were out to hurt him that game, too.

The penalties need to be huge for this.

An example needs to be made, and he will serve admirably.
