The only thing wrong with it was that it had horrible British electrics.

Nice car, otherwise. Six cylinders, overdrive (switch on dashboard). Pretty damned fast.

This is actually an 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 BN4 2+2 Roadster

Electrics plagued some makes in the '50s and '60s I believe. I recall some stories of Fiats with electrical issues catching fire in the dealership showrooms.

1. Austin Healy Sprite. (AKA MG Midget) worked well. No synchro 1st gear made for interesting drive technique.

2. MGB GT -- nice looking, but an absolutely horrible car!

And lever shocks were very expensive to replace (yet another horrible British idea), so I sold it.

...it wasn't rare for manual trans cars to have 1st and reverse with no synchro.

I almost pulled the trigger on one last year but the price on them is very high now.
