Giants score 2 in 10th to defeat Dodgers
Los Angeles -- - The Dodgers had a strange giveaway Thursday night: large, inflatable seat cushions that sort of looked like part of the Michelin man's midsection.
Fans were asked before the game not to inflate them at Dodger Stadium. Naturally, some fans did and batted them around like beach balls, because that's what they do here.
On the field, nobody was batting much of anything. The opener of a four-game series at Dodger Stadium belonged to the pitchers, and ultimately belonged to the Giants in a 3-1, 10-inning victory.
Hector Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly and Brandon Belt a scoring single to give the Giants the opener of a four-game series. They improved to 5-2 on the trip, thus assuring no worse than a split of the 10 games.
The Giants (22-13) also caught the Brewers for best record in the National League.
