Marlins score 2 in 9th to defeat Giants 7-5

Seemingly each time the Marlins scored Friday night at AT&T Park, the Giants had an answer.

Until the ninth inning, that is. Miami scored twice in the final inning and prevailed 7-5.

Christian Yelich opened the ninth by drawing a four-pitch walk from Santiago Casilla (1-1). Yelich moved to second on a single by Derek Dietrich.

Casilla struck out Giancarlo Stanton, whose hitting streak ended at 17 games with an 0-for-5. Casey McGehee then poked a single to right on which Yelich motored home to give Miami a 6-5 lead.

With two outs, Garrett Jones greeted Javier Lopez with an infield single that brought home Dietrich with an insurance run.

Considering the Giants had won 16 of their previous 21 games and they twice tied the game after trailing Friday, manager Bruce Bochy could put this loss in the understandable file.

At least the Marlins will be back east soon enough.

This has been a tight series so far.
