Sitting on the front porch watching activity at the feeder.

In the last few minutes I've had a pair of Cardinals, a White Crowned Sparrow, a Downy Woodpecker and a couple House Finches. There was a Mourning Dove earlier, but it flew when I walked outside. The rest aren't bothered by my presence.

The wren's who were nesting in the watering can on the porch have left the nest. I didn't see them leave. One day they were making frequent trips bringing in various insects and the next morning there's nobody home.

ETA: I just had a cottontail bunny sprint across the front yard.

in the tall pines. Noisy things. Between those two and couple generations of Magpies, it's kind of noisy around here. I love seeing the Merlins. There was a pair at the farm last summer and they would come up, soaring on a stout breeze*, hang about twenty feet from me at face level and just watch me for a minute or two. They did that a couple times a week. I'm thrilled to have some to look at here, not farming this year.

However, I sometimes see piles of feathers under the pecan tree and see where they have apparently had a meal up in the branches. The feathers are nearly always a Collared Dove.

Caught pics of a white throated sparrow in evergreen bush near my house, while looking for 'my' ospreys on nest adjacent to my house. (Haven't seen them in 1 day, they seem to have gone missing; concerned.)

THEN saw 3 turkey vultures on nearby fence.
