One day I heard one give a wicked bird of prey screech. Almost right above me. I'd never heard one do that.

It seems like every time I'm watching one fish, I get distracted, then look and there it is flying off with a fish!

I've had that experience 'occasionally,' when s/he's feeding the family (here in southern MD, adjacent to my house.)

FORTUNATELY I missed the screech last year, when an eagle attacked 'my' nest, hurt the female (and destroyed egg(s).) NOW awaiting viewing of 'kids,' any week now.
