Well, they are about to take the green.

One tradition I really enjoy, or miss, is Jim Nabors singing Back Home In Indiana.

I've been watching this for so many years that it isn't official without him.

Last year they played a recording of him singing.

2. I'll miss him as much as I miss Tom Carnegie.

Those two voices are forever ingrained in my Indy 500 memories.

From Wiki: For more than 30 years, Nabors has sung "Back Home Again in Indiana" with the Purdue All-American Marching Band before each Indianapolis 500. In March 2014, Nabors announced that the 2014 Indianapolis 500 would be his final appearance singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, explaining that his health was limiting his ability to travel.

So we turn yet another page in life

Exciting finish. And though I hate NASCAR's Busch brothers, I have to give props to Kurt for a whale of a good drive in his first Indy car race.
