The Path

Mushrooms #1

Curious ring of small white mushrooms (maybe hard to see)

(About an 8-foot diameter)

Close-up of small mushrooms (#2) in ring

Mushroom #3

Tree Stump

(I just figured out how to adjust phone camera color/light intensity)

Cairn & Cabin

Yellow Flowers & bug

Yellow Wasp

Moss on a pine grove floor

Dogged maple invading the pine grove

Old red pine stump

Delicate ground cover

(has been diminishing over time)

A moment of whimsy from 20 years ago

now fallen over and returning to the woods

...from the "about this group" button above:

Discuss all aspects of hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing and other outdoor sports.

No worries about "being lazy", been there...

I posted here since it seemed to be the most appropriate group.

If I thought about it I should have posted in the DU Lounge for exposure...

just wondering how it works, when one is a subscriber to a group. Do I get emails or something / updates of new posts, etc.?

Will do some research of my own. Thanks!

I'm rooting for that sweet little maple trying it's best in the pine grove.

your walk. Walks in the woods are one of my favorite things.

Your delicate ground cover looks like what's called running pine here in SWNC. It's a club moss - Lycopodium clavatum. (But I am no botanist, so I could be wrong.)

...and I could look up the name of the cover but have never bothered to do so. It is primarily in a 30 x30 foot patch nestled between the Red pines and some Hawthorns, but the patch has been decreasing in number and size over the last 25 years.

I make a point of never walking through the patch.

from an original central mushroom. It spreads its spores in a ring around its base, and subsequent generations enlarge that ring.

the ring mushrooms seem to visually match Clitocybe dealbata (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clitocybe_dealbata)...

but with all things mushroom caution is advised...
