...the first US goal was put in by Press, the player in for Rapinoe - “No Rapinoe, no problem.” Why on earth would she say something mean-spirited like that?

Why not something upbeat like, “Way to step up in Megan’s absence!”?

was to point out the depth of talent the team has. A starter goes out, a sub is there without missing a beat.

If there was even a slight indication of an injury, then it would make perfect sense for the coaches to rest her for the championship final on July 7.
