Goal line technology now! (spoilers)

Those of you that watched the Chelsea - Spurs FA Cup semifinal today know what I mean.

That wasn't even close! Let alone the fact that it shouldn't have counted because of Terry's foul, this is more egregious than Lampard's non-given goal against Germany, in my opinion. A referee has to be absolutely sure before awarding a goal, otherwise it should not be given.

Adding two extra officials has made no difference whatsoever as far I have noticed. Has anybody seen a game where they've made an important call? Even one? I can't.

By the way, if anyone spots Ashley Young anywhere today, please give him a swift kick in the goolies from me, would you? Thanks in advance.

....Lampards' goal in that England match was clearly over the line and had to be waved off, whereas today,s goal didn't appear to get anywhere the line...i do fully agree that it is way beyond time that goalline technology is introduced...every goal in football is so important you simply can't afford to muck them up...

Well, the injustice in both case is the same, of course. I'm more likely to forgive a ref who didn't see the goal (and the German keeper cleared it pretty quickly) and doesn't give it because he's not sure than a ref who is absolutely certain he saw something that just wasn't there.

My preference is for a machine that goes "ping" when the ball crosses the line if that technology is accurate, but I'll go with video replay if it isn't.

How does the equivalent technology in ice hockey tell the difference between a puck and a skate or hand, btw? Is there a chip or RFID in the puck?

Considering my username, you might not believe this, but that was a completely inadvertent Monty Python reference!

since the replay clearly showed it did not cross the line. But even worse is the obvious foul by Terry that the referee missed as well on that play. It's way past time FIFA and the FA moved into the 21st century and use the available technology to improve the game and get things RIGHT.

Martin Jol claimed his side were denied a goal that had crossed the line. Didn't catch this one, myself.

Goal line technology will help But a far larger issue is whether
there should be a fifth referee in the booth upstairs who can
look at replays and advise the referees on the field. I would like
to see that.
