I agree it's sad. In my opinion, the FA cup winner should get a Champions League spot as they have more right to it than the fourth place finisher in the league. Bring back infinite replays, and drop the League Cup to avoid fixture congestion. It's a redundant competition anyway.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

Or bring back the Cup Winners Cup, even though that was never as big as the other European competitions. Second on the removal of the League Cup.

Fellow Gooner here,

Who could forget one of the (or was it the) last CWC finals where Nayim lobbed Seaman over 50 yards (so to speak) in the last seconds of extra time?

The UEFA cup is less than the sum of the old EC2 and EC3 with all the emphasis on the Champions League these days, sadly. Yet another way in which the rich have gotten richer.

"For us, the Champions League and FA Cup are not comparable. The Champions League is compulsory. The FA Cup is something that is for enjoyment. It is a bonus that we want. The Champions League, for us, is something that is needed.

"It is more important. That means you will want me to say it's not important to win on Monday … it is very important to win on Monday for us. But the basis of our life at the top level is dictated by the championship. If we can add on top of that the FA Cup, it is fantastic. But our life, at the level where we are, with the wages we have and the aspirations we have, is to play in the Champions League. After that, you want, of course, to win all the other trophies."
