Churchgoers have been told to ask themselves: “Would God like my tweet?” as the Church of England draws up the nine Commandments for social media faithful.

Preaching the message of modern communication, the Diocese of Bath & Wells urged its clergy and staff to reach out to others through social media in the hope they will help spread the Christian message in a way God would approve of.

The diocese said social media was “an important missional tool” that could build relationships not possible through other channels. But it added that church members should beware the temptations of social media immediacy and not lose their Christian values in the rush to be “liked”.

New good practice guidelines issued by the diocese included the first tenet: Don’t rush in.

Therefore the Tweeters tweet-ethed until their tweeters fell off. And the great Tweeter looked down upon the Tweeters and said it was good. But then the Big Tweeter of Heaven decided it was bad because some Tweeters tweeted things of abomination. He therefore sent a great flood and all Tweeters were wiped from the face of the earth. Then there was a great upheaval in Heaven and Hell because the multitude of Tweeters was so overwhelming that the Great Evil Tweeter and the Big Tweeter in Heaven purged the Tweeters and they were sentenced to roam the face of the earth forever. Amen.

I don't tweet, don't know how to tweet and have zero interest in learning how.
