Your response implies that claim (which may or may not be accurate) is about loving to hate people who happen to be scientologists.
I hate lots of ideas that certain people subscribe to, but that doesn't mean I hate those individual people.

(6,498 posts)I had a poll hidden in this forum just this morning by a DU Jury 7-0 for asking the question,
True or false?: Atheists are mentally ill purely by virtue of being atheists.

You are treading on very thin ice, here. Your question is not much different from mine.

(6,498 posts)But I do think that a warning is appropriate so that the OP can benefit from my own experience.
I don't imagine that it will be long before this poll suffers the same fate that mine did.

(3,657 posts)You definitely have a case with that
Warren Stupidity
(48,181 posts)You should have known that, since you have been arguing that atheists are a privileged class.

Warren Stupidity
(48,181 posts)You clearly feel there is some double standard and that attacking atheists is treated differently than attacking theists and that atheists get treated better.
But I digress. I am fascinated that you think that everyone who says they believe in god is a liar as they have no evidence to back up that belief.
stone space
(6,498 posts)It doesn't support your lie.

(7,753 posts)And spare us your "I've been an Atheist for over fifty years and my Atheist Beliefs are better than yours 'cos I love Christians and they have so much to teach us why can't you be nice to them I'm so happy here with my believing buddies blah blah drone..."
stone space
(6,498 posts)Don't you think that atheists have just as much right to see what the DU community feels about our beliefs as theists do?
Or is this just a privilege reserved for religious folks?

(1,242 posts)is an impediment to understanding them, and engenders defensiveness and hostility in return. I wouldn't do that to a Scientologist any more than I'd do it to a Mormon, a JW, a Catholic, a Satanist, a Pagan, etc.
Warren Stupidity
(48,181 posts)with "dude, your beliefs are a ludicrous delusion" would be the best place to start. Otherwise you are just sitting there thinking exactly that but dishonestly pretending otherwise.
Thetans? Seriously? Not a delusion?

Bit of an assumption there. I doubt that most of us "love to hate" anything or anyone, let alone make psychiatric diagnoses of entire groups or segments of the population.
