Heres the information:
I am conducting research on understanding reasons for not believing in a god for my dissertation. We would like to invite you to participate in our survey on non-belief in God, and to share this survey with your friends. The survey is relatively short, and should take between 15-30 minutes to complete. Thank you for considering participating in our study, and if you have any questions please feel free to email me at researchunbelief@gmail.com.
You can take the survey right here.
You are being invited to participate in a study investigating your reasons for non-belief. This will be accomplished by completing an online survey where we invite you to respond to questions regarding not believing in a god. The results of this study will be made available to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and to Principal Investigator Kenan Sevinc.

(146,218 posts)I would like to see the results of this.
Although I know that the validity of an internet poll is very low, it would still be interesting to see how people responded.

(2,101 posts)There were many questions with answers on the extremes. It seems that for the data of my answers to fall within the bell curve the values would have to be multiplied by <1/2> (that's negative 1/2).
I too would like to see the results!

Maybe they can send an email alert when it's published.

(2,101 posts)I'm trying very hard right now to resist suggestions for an appropriate costume for you. What we may find humor in, others might take seriously. In this neighborhood I could put myself in a body cast, looking like someone barely surviving a serious wreck, just to see how many put a beer in my bag and saying, "good one! does the truck still run?"

(33,982 posts)Look forward to the results. Not the best sort of poll, but I'm very curious if there's any weight to the common suggestion that atheists are just rebelling against/hate god, and whether that can in any way be supported by showing a predisposition for atheists to have left a faith, or if a sizeable percentage are like me, never having believed at all. Ever. Even as a child.

(7,309 posts)because I didn't answer the questions on page 1. I am highly suspect of this study. I wanted to see the questions first. I feel like a bug being questioned by the Orkin man.

This is my own bias speaking here, but it sounds to me as though a theist is asking, "Why do you crazy atheists refuse to bow down before our creator?"
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)Things like 'you're just mad at god'. Which asserts that you believe in god at all, to start with.
This survey seems carefully crafted to analyze things like, as an atheist have you always been one, or have you bailed from some other faith, and could that tend to support, or disprove the former canard.
Here's the problem though. That survey is self-selected, and there's nothing keeping a small group of asshole theists from wildly skewing/vandalizing the results.

(146,218 posts)What? You have drawn conclusions without actually looking at the information?
Someone alert the media!
BTW, what do you think is promised by the ignore function that isn't delivered?

(7,309 posts)I didn't like that posts made in reply to people I had on ignore were hidden from me as well. I didn't miss your posts one bit, but the posts that followed yours were valuable.
And I didn't make any conclusions, as I wasn't allowed to view the questions. I just didn't like his opening statement. It's just this kind of questioning by you that makes your posts worthy of ignoring. I won't use the ignore function, but I will ignore you.
cbayer
(146,218 posts)That's why you signed out or took me off ignore to see what I was saying.
And that's why you are replying to me now.
If your want to ignore me or anyone else, just do it. I promise you this, I could care less whether you ignore me or not and will continue to respond to you if I feel like it.
You can start now
