Well, that only took ten years or so

I would imagine this is one of the reasons victims feel so frustrated in a search for justice. After ten years these pedophiles were finally defrocked. So why aren't they in jail?

I agree with the woman who posted the first response to this story, BTW.

Vatican defrocks 3 priests over sexual misconduct
Dan Horn
October 29, 2014

The Vatican defrocked three Greater Cincinnati priests Tuesday because of sexual misconduct with children that occurred more than a decade ago.

The decision permanently removes the men from the priesthood and is the final step in the Roman Catholic Church's slow, methodical process of evaluating abuse cases and handing out discipline.

All three priests -- Thomas Kuhn, Thomas Feldhaus and Ronald Cooper -- had been on administrative leave for years and had been barred from saying Mass and performing any priestly acts. The Vatican's move to dismiss them "from the clerical state" means they can never again present themselves as priests.

"I hope that this resolution will bring some measure of closure and healing to anyone harmed by these priests," said Cincinnati Archbishop Dennis Schnurr....

Reminds me of the apologists who say Frank's recent statements wrt the obvious will take years to turn the RCC Titanic around.

Thanks for the post, tH. I find myself asking the same question: Why aren't these monsters in prison?

Good question, but it should be asked of the local prosecutors who apparently have not sought the appropriate indictments. No church has the power to try anyone for violation of state law.

why the church did not make a full report to the appropriate authorities and turn over ALL evidence of abuse the minute they became aware of it. As any decent human being so would have done. A church cannot prosecute a crime, but it sure as hell can cover one up and obstruct justice to protect its own pitiful reputation.

It appears Kuhn was the only one who served any time in jail but that was 30 days for violation of his probation.

Here's some more background info on the cases. Sorry I'm pressed for time so am just providing the links.
