"Thanksgiving Prayer" by William S. Burroughs

I love Burroughs. I think he is one of the best, and likely THE best, American satirist. He made significant contributions to the way we view the novel. And that he is reading this himself makes it about 100 times better.

It sounds like i should be listening to some John Wayne movie where he's killing blue-eyed Indians or disgraceful Nazi's with ridiculous accents.

GOD BLESS AMERICA because we're goddamn perfect.

Burroughs was devastated. Drugs can make you do ridiculous things. His intro to Queer talks about how that event brought him to write as well as a great deal of demons to deal with.
